New Year’s Eve

Party Popper

Hello everyone.^^/

2014 has been one big adventure. Many happy things have happened for me as well as many nerve-racking moments. In fact, I keep on forgetting the littlest of things that happened this year. Passing an online course, completing my first ever story, attending my sister’s wedding and going out many times, especially London! Right now I’m just busy enjoying the festive season. =)

I’m sure 2015 will treat me just as kindly, if not more. I’m not sure what’s going to happen really, but there are many things for me to look forward to. There are plenty of Marvel films coming up at the cinema. I think a new James Bond film is also coming out at the pictures. I will hopefully take the opportunity in that year to upload my book onto Amazon Kindle. I’m very excited yet nervous about that prospect. =)

My New Year’s Resolution?… I don’t have one. Well, my New Year’s Resolution applies every day in every moment, not just on the 1st January. That resolution is to always be kind to others and to enjoy every moment of every day. I’m sure that whatever happens in 2015 is meant to be.

I will continue to write about my thoughts and how I cope in social situations. I will write plenty of anime and manga reviews. I also anticipate that I will share with you all my past experiences during my acting days. I have many funny stories to tell and I figured it’d be worth sharing. =)

I wrote quite a few haikus as it is one of my hobbies. I don’t usually share them as they’re rather personal to me. However, my gut feeling is telling me that I should share one haiku in particular. It’s the one that I wrote specifically for this time of year. Here it is:

NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION

My-resolution,

Is-for-everyone-to-be,

Happy-all-year-long.

Non Non Biyori Calendar 2015

My New Year’s Eve has just got better. My Christmas present, Non Non Biyori calendar, has literally arrived just in time before we welcome 2015. I’m really happy, so happy that I decided to share a photo of it here. =)

I hope you all have a peaceful night and fun celebrating.

Thanks for reading.

Happy New Year everyone.^^/

Dating

Issei and Asia

Winter Tidings.^^/

The Undateables is coming back on Channel 4 very soon. A few close peeps have mentioned in passing that it might be worth considering going on that show to meet up with someone. I appreciate their thoughts for me and considering my happiness. However, I have no plans to use these types of dating services.

My main reason is that it would just feel too forced and formal. I get anxious and nervous just meeting someone new at my brother’s and sister’s gatherings. I feel that meeting someone new by myself would put me under unnecessary pressure. Plus, the TV coverage wouldn’t really help ease my nerves. I make many mistakes in social situations and if I embarrass myself only a few people would see it. However, if I make mistakes and be quirky on TV then three million plus viewers would see it, not just a handful of people. Haha.

Really, being in a relationship has never really entered my mind. I did go on a date when I was 11 years old but that’s another story to tell in another blog. 😉 Really, what’s important is for me to meet new people and gain experience by meeting a variety of people. Of course, having a female partner would, I’m sure, be a valuable and wonderful experience. However, I’m in no rush. I never have been and I never will be. My priorities are my family and friends, meeting new people and making new friends through the art that is socialising. =)

I’m not worried about finding someone because I know I have a soul mate out there. It’s just that I haven’t met her yet, cue Michael Buble… I don’t know when, I don’t know how, and I don’t know where but I know that fate will assist me into finding that one special lady. Some of you may not believe in fate, but I’m a huge believer in fate and that two people are destined to be together. Some find each other through neighbours, some find each other through schools and some even find each other in pubs and train stations. Haha.

It will happen for me it’s just all about living in the present and not worry about what the future holds.

Just right now, I just finished watching a film about Glenn Miller starring James Stewart, it was really cool. Mr Miller is quite the pioneer in his time and a very positive gentleman. I would have like to have met him.

I’m now going to read heaps of manga that I got over Christmas, but not before going out for a long walk. The sky is golden and beautiful where I am right now. =D

Marvel Avengers Assemble Film Review

Marvel Avengers Assemble Poster

Ho, Ho, Ho.^^/

This is definitely one of my favourite films.

The most appealing factor of this film for me would have to be the quick-yet-explosive action. I like the diverse levels of fighting styles and power levels from the characters. I find that with the various strengths and power levels it allow us to enjoy different kinds of fights. We have basic combat fights involving Captain America, demi-god lightning from Thor, gun shooting from Nick Fury, aggressive power from Hulk and cool high-tech gadgets from Iron Man. All of this, I think, really attracts all kinds of fans. =D

Captain America is fun to watch. He can manoeuvre like ten cats in one. He can use his shield as a defensive mechanism as well as a boomerang. A lot of cool stuff happens when he uses his shield in combat. My favourite part was when Iron Man shot a beam at his shield which deflected into one of the enemy. That was a great piece of teamwork right there. =D

Iron Man… he is, without doubt, my favourite superhero. It may seem strange to but I feel that Iron Man could be real. Perhaps it’s because of the genius technology that exists in today’s society? This, and there’s this real robot called ‘Titan’. I think he appeared in Big Brother[1] once? Plus, it’s a man putting on armour, not a man summoning lightning like Thor. Minus the laser beams and the flying I feel that Iron Man could actually exist in real life, haha.

I like Tony Stark just as much. He’s not your typical hero. I loved his banter with the Captain. “Take off your armour, what are you?” “…a genius playboy philanthropist.” I thought that was comedy gold. I couldn’t remember the exact dialogue but it was something along those lines. =) They had severe differences in the beginning but it was their mutual feelings for their enemies and Coulson that drew them closer together. They ended up respecting one another and in the end they ended up working well together. I enjoyed their growth in their friendship. =)

I was really upset when Coulson died, especially since he didn’t get the chance to get the Captain’s autograph. At first I thought the Captain was being ignorant to Coulson’s admiration and compliments. However, I was reminded that he’s been frozen for 70 years. Thinking about it logically, he was more likely just too overwhelmed by the advanced technology in today’s society. The submarine plane part was especially cool. =D

The biggest tear-jerking moment though, besides Coulson’s death, happened right at the end. Tony, who is quite the self-involved gent, risked his life to put the bomb into that other dimension. My heart was really in my mouth when he tried to call Pepper but couldn’t get through… I was then touched when the Incredible Hulk, of all people, grabbed him before he [Tony] fell splat on the ground. It just goes to show that the Hulk is capable of thinking and distinguishing between allies and enemies… just not all the time. Haha.

As well as the kickass action there have been many funny moments, touching moments, teary moments, exciting moments and a cameo from Stan Lee. What more could you ask for from Marvel Studios?^^/

This really is an amazing film and I can’t wait for Avengers: Age of Ultron, this coming April. I have no hesitation to give this film, Two Thumb’s-Up.^^/ (My Rating System)

I watched this on BBC1, right before Match of the Day on Boxing Day. I noticed more things from watching this the second time. The most notable thing I noticed was the brief mention of Jane Foster, Thor’s love interest.
I never planned to review this film. It was a completely spontaneous moment. I like to think that I’m getting better at being spontaneous, as to me, being spontaneous means that I’m living in the moment. Living in the moment means that I’m living for today, my favourite kind of day. =)

My Christmas Tradition

Father Christmas

Ho, Ho, Ho.^^/

I have plenty of traditions at this time of year. I watch Christmas films, watch Thomas special episodes, listen to Christmas music and watch football on Boxing Day. My two most important traditions are hanging out with peeps and wrapping presents. You see, I get a thrill wrapping presents on Christmas Eve evening.

However, I’ve come down with a bad cold for the past few weeks. So, I wrapped them early so I could attend my sister’s Christmas Eve gathering. It was a good night and I made sure to work the room and talk to everyone. =) I don’t like feeling sorry for myself so I tend to not tell anyone if I have a cold or when I’m poorly. Someone did point out that my nose was really red. That was no brainer though; it was obvious that I was auditioning to be Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer. 😉 Haha.

I woke up really late this morning and we, as a family, opened up our presents quite late. We would all sit in a circle, Dad would pass out the presents, and we would open them one at a time. However, with Santa sacks, we just divulge in them right before we open up the presents from friends and family. Of course, I know Father Christmas doesn’t really bring our presents but me and my Mum still get Santa sacks. It’s all part of the fun, so why not? 🙂

I got a lot of nice presents from Father Christmas and from my family too. From the top of my head, I got…

  • High School DxD Volume 3
  • Monster Musume Volume 5
  • D-Frag Volume 2
  • Marvel Socks
  • Superman and Marvel loungers
  • Marvel T-Shirt
  • Is This a Zombie DVD
  • Lion onesie
  • Captain America: Winter Soldier Blu-Ray
  • Thomas: Tale of the Brave
  • Thomas the Tank Engine Annual 2015
  • Winnie the Pooh the complete collection
  • A very well knitted beard. Haha. =D
  • Non Non Biyori outro music
  • New set of dark striped pyjamas

So far it’s been really positive. Before I set off for my sister’s gathering I saw, what I personally believe was a shooting star. I know I might be unwell and not thinking straight but my eyes never deceive me. =) Well, it was either a shooting star or a comet. However, I’m choosing to believe that it was a shooting star. My face was spread in an exasperated gawp…after 20 seconds I made several wishes at once. I wished for Christmas and New Year to be good for everyone, to over-think less and to be a successful author in 2015. =) If it wasn’t a shooting star then my next guess would have been Father Christmas. Haha.

So far, it’s working, as everyone I know is having a very pleasant Christmas. I keep on falling asleep today as I’m not well but chilling out is the best way for a speedy recovery. =)

I’m planning to go out on several shopping trips and ordering some stuff as well. Through browsing on Amazon I discovered that Seven Seas, my current favourite publishers, have actually acquired licensed for Non Non Biyori manga! I’m extremely excited about this. For the past year I’ve always said to myself that if anyone was going to license Non Non Biyori, it was going to be Seven Seas. It’s not released until 30th June 2015. Aside from my birthday, it’s another reason to look forward to 6 months from now. =)

For those interested, here is the link for confirmation.

After the Christmas meal, and breaking the wish bone, I’ll probably spend the rest of the evening watching the Christmas trilogy of Only Fools and Horses and Captain America with my family. Then, I anticipate an early night. Even if I am unwell, I can still think happy thoughts. =D

For the fun of it, here is a picture of me dressing up in my Lion onesie and wearing that fake beard. Haha.

Atelier Escha and Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky Game Review

Atelier Escha and Logy Alchemists of the Dusk Sky cover

Ho, ho, ho.^^/

I got the Escha game for my birthday back in June but I didn’t play it straightaway. Within these past few months I decided to chill out and one day have a proper go at this game, and I got very addicted, I must say. I always wanted to have a game where it is proper anime related. Escha and Logy is part of the Atelier game series, and the anime also aired at the same time as this game release.

This is the first time that I’m going to give a full account of a game. Instead of trying to tick the rights boxes for a “review” I’m just going to go on one of those typical banters that I enjoy so much. =D

  1. REVIEW

WARNING: I MAY GIVE SPOILERS AWAY

I played Escha’s route for the first time which resulted in a bad ending. I played Escha’s route again with more experience under my bet…got another bad ending! I tried Escha’s route for the third time and got a good ending! Wohoo! I chose the ending, “So hungry…”.

I like the story and gameplay of this. I enjoyed synthesizing items whilst playing as Escha. She synthesized items like bombs, accessories, potions, food, healing items and windmill parts. She is the traditional alchemist, whereas Logy is the modern type alchemist. He synthesizes weapons and armour. I found synthesizing to be fairly easy. It took time to get used to but I found it fairly simple once I got used to it. To me, it’s all about applying the correct ingredients and using the correct elements for creating an item. It may not make any sense, but I know what I’m talking about. Haha!

The fighting is very good as well. You can’t exactly pause during the battles but during each fighter’s turn, I find, you can take your time to decide your next move. It’s fast paced and you can gauge up support attacks depending on your success of moves. There is also an addition special attack called “Double Draw” which can only be achieved once Escha and Logy become closer in their friendship.

The characters are all good too and all have their own unique story routes. They all have funky style of clothes. I especially like Escha’s style. She is impeccably cute. I love her puppy eyes, pink hair and her fluffy tail. Plus, she is voiced by Rie Murakawa, who voices Hotarun from Non Non Biyori! That alone makes her my favourite character of the Atelier franchise, haha. But even without that fact, she is still probably my favourite character. Her voice matches her appearance and personality, full of enthusiasm and somewhat childish innocence. Ironically, Hotarun is voiced more mature then Escha and she [Hotarun] is in the fifth grade.

All the girls are cute, Wilbell, Linca and Marion especially, but I have to say that Threia is drop dead, hubba, hubba, gorgeous. I’m happy to be her assistant anytime. 😉

It’s cool that they showed the animated scenes, especially the clips when they showed Escha and co travelling to the Unexplored Ruins. They would also show picture clips every now and then. My favourite ones tend to involve Escha and Linca. Linca is mightily powerful but is very shy when it comes to socialising with others, and I feel that the illustrations really show that.

Ahem, back to the gameplay…

I’m just genuinely enjoying this game. What I figured out is that buffing up your equipment and weapons is more important than the fighter’s level. I was able to beat that Altegewalt but I couldn’t knock off Dreadnaught or the Child of Disaster. I figured out that my equipment were more immune to the dragon’s attacks but not immune to the other two. I got up to level 67 but didn’t have the best armour and weapon etc. I did manage to strengthen my attacking and healing weapons though. =)

I’m doing this for the fourth time so I can get another ending with Escha since she has several endings routes. I should probably start with Logy…but I decided not to. I like Escha much, much more. Haha. In all seriousness, I made plenty of mistakes but I’m much wiser for it. It’s all about buffing up your battle items, your weapons, and your battle wear. It also helps if you chose the strongest foe when you go out to fight. And, if you’re short on items just get those cute creatures, the Homonculi, to create exact replicas…it has saved me bundles of trouble. =)

  1. CONCLUSION

For me, I enjoy the little things about this game. I enjoy listening to the music, looking at the scenes and listening to the characters. Sometimes, I would just sit down and watch Escha. When she’s not active she would twirl and sway from side to side. I find that cute to watch. I especially like it how she exclaims “BARREL!” in Japanese. The music is tranquil to listen to, almost as tranquil as the soundtrack from Non Non Biyori. =)

It sort of came to the point of where I could just play this game all the time, hence why I’m starting again. If you complete one route you can start again but the information from completing one game will carry over. Will this be a game over? Or will I be able to clear this route successfully? Only one way to find out, start playing! =D

I give this game, Two Thumbs-Up.^^/ (My Rating System)

Two Thumbs-Up

Escha Synthesizing

When it comes to reviewing games I got it in my head that I was going to review Senran Kagura Burst and Super Mario first. However, since I’m playing Escha I figured that it only made sense to review it whilst I’m in the zone of playing it. =)

A Nativity to Remember

Christmas Nativity

Ho, Ho, Ho.^^/

Christmas is a busy yet fun time. It may seem stressful but it’s all worth it in the end. =)

I saw an advert not too long ago of the Nativity film. It suddenly made me remember perhaps one of my busiest Christmas times, all the way back in 2005. In that year I starred in the nativity school play. I’m sure many of you have been part of the nativity back when you went to school, but how many of you starred in the nativity at 17 years old? Yep… I was 17 years old when I starred in the nativity…the irony has still not lost on me. Haha.

The SEN school I attended was very small. In that year there were 40 students in the entire school, thus, the entire school was part of the nativity. We had two scenes based on the birth of Jesus and the family dinner in the modern age…the younger students from the younger classes were part of the birth of Jesus scenes whilst the older students (me included) were part of the family dinner scene.

I played one of the two key characters in this play, Granddad. Me and this other lad were one of the only few who had a lot of speaking parts. I basically rambled on about the principles of Christmas and I would narrate the “story” to my family about the birth of Jesus. The settings would alternate between the family setting and the birth of Jesus.

We had plenty of good laughs here and there, we rehearsed the play for the whole school term… however, when December came I suddenly became really ill. I couldn’t walk, I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t speak and I lacked a lot of sleep. I had absolutely no idea what came over me. I was absent from school for a good while during that period.

If that wasn’t bad enough I had other acting commitments outside of school. I was part of two plays for two separate colleges (I attended one part time and I went to the other for work experience). And, I played Mr Beaver for an acting school, and that role in particular required a lot of energy. I was probably taking on a lot more than I could handle. I couldn’t go to school as I was ill. After resting up for a week I decided to partake in the performances at the colleges and drama school. My reason is that I only had to spend an hour at those performances and I could muster up the energy for that amount of time. With school…going to school would of course mean that I would have to spend the entire day there and obviously I couldn’t do that.

One day, a teacher rang my Mum to ask about my health. It was stressed that if I was going to stay absent for the whole term then the play would have to change, since I played a significant role. She sort of pleaded for me to come in and play my part. I felt a huge rush of pride souring through my veins. Feeling wanted and needed in a “crisis” motivates me to try my hardest. Plus, it was going to be the very last production from my school as they were closing the following year. I felt that it was imperative for me to attend.

In a way, I think that was the road to my recovery as I started to feel happy and gained some energy back. Technically, I still couldn’t go to school and learn but I could perform. During the final week I attended for rehearsals and for the final performance.

I was completely wiped out for the entire day. Haha. Everyone, from classmates to teachers understood that I was completely wacked out. I couldn’t really focus as much as I would have liked and I kept on missing my cues in rehearsal. In fact, I had to have the script inside my “storytelling book” for whenever I kept on forgetting my lines. I couldn’t speak very well so they gave me this microphone attached to my cravat so that my voice projected throughout the room.

During the little breaks and lunch breaks I actually stayed in my rocking chair and just slept and chilled out. I certainly made the most out of that! I decided that I was going to store up my energy for the actual performance.

The performance came and went. I like to think that it was a mighty successful one. I did miss some of my cues though, but, I made it work… sort of. Haha. The lad next to me kept on kindly reminding me (in a whisper) that I forgot certain lines during the actual show. Haha. Thank you my friend! XD

In the role of Granddad I wore a jumper, a cravat, a pair of fashion disaster glasses and a Charlie Chaplan cane. In this nativity play I did the most cringing thing in my life… I sang. I’ve never sung in my own house, let alone in a show. I had to get up from my chair, stand in front of the audience and sing a little song… it was bad enough that I couldn’t speak, but I had to really will myself and get my lungs to work. I also did a little Charlie Chaplan-esque dance at the end… that was fun but also a little embarrassing. When that skit was over I was able sit down and enjoy the show. Although, I still had to have wits about me as I still needed to narrate every now and then… I stayed put on the rocking chair for as long as I was allowed to. I experienced a few dizzy rushes and at times I couldn’t really hear what was said, thus, the reason why I kept on missing cues. Haha.

All things considered, it was a good valuable experience and even though I was off my head… it was all worth it. Everyone was buzzing throughout the day with positivity.

Psst, don’t tell anyone but I actually had a sneaky sleep during the carol singing in the after-performance part. 😉

THANKS FOR READING

I still watch the DVD of this production and look back at that time fondly. I especially watch the DVD at this time of year, as its Christmas. It was probably one of my most favourite memories of my school, if not the most. Oh, before I forget… NO I’m not going to share my singing from that show. Haha! =D

Thanks for reading.

Merry Christmas, everyone.^^/

High School DxD Anime Review (Part One)

High School DxD Poster 01

Ho, ho, ho.^^/

Something has been bugging me for a while. The quote ‘killing two birds with one stone’ does not make sense. Sure, I know what the phrase means but it still doesn’t add up. Thinking logically, is it really possible to kill birds by throwing stones at them? I couldn’t kill a single bird with one stone, let alone two at the same time. Stones were made to kill Goliath, not birds. 😉

Ahem-

High School DxD is truly a wonderful anime. I put the Blu-ray on and my love for this anime rekindled. I knew how much this anime means to me but once I put the Blu-ray one my excitement for this anime has exploded. This is currently in the top five of my all-time favourite anime. It’s no secret that this contains a lot of skin exposure and kick-ass lady fighters but the story delves much deeper than the naked ladies. It involves ranking systems through chess pieces and kick-ass actions between devils, angels and fallen angels. It also involves the main protagonist’s school life as his comrades also go to the same school. I could go on but basically this anime ticks all the boxes of what I like to see in a story. =)

I decided to construct a little review of this and divide this into two parts. Part one will be about the specials that came with the Blu-ray disc 2. I wondered if I should make this part two for chronological order. Then I thought ‘oh, who gives a two milk shakes, I’m doing it anyway!’ And so, here is the result of my decision.

  1. SYNOPSIS

Issei Hyoudou, your typical high school student, dreams of having his very own harem of beautiful girls. The story begins when he goes on a date with an enchanting girl. His relationship was going well, until that fateful night… after she unveiled her mask as a fallen angel she brutally attacks and kills Issei. It’s not exactly an ideal start to any story but all is not lost. He is later ‘reincarnated’ into a devil by a red-haired beauty who later proclaims that she is his ‘master’. With his normal life now officially flushed down the toilet Issei is now caught up in the battle between the devils and the church. Who will come out triumphant?

  1. REVIEW

WARNING: I MAY GIVE SPOILERS AWAY

One of the best things about disc two, well, probably the best thing about disc two is the five minute specials. They’re called “Fantasy Jiggles Unleashed”. An apt name, if I do say so myself. Haha.

3.1. FANTASY JIGGLES UNLEASHED

3.1.1. ~Going to the Beach~

Ah, a beach episode, a compulsory must have for all anime. Haha.

It contained full of mishaps when Rias asked Issei to rub her back with oil… I could see this coming a mile away. One little slip and Issei gets into a ‘tangle’ with Rias. Asia then joins in and becomes part of that ‘tangle’. For some reason, Issei has to face the consequences and is buried in the sand. I found this to be a little harsh. Sure, I’m certain he got a kick out of it (who wouldn’t?) but did it really merit a punishment? Especially considering that what he did wasn’t deliberate.

3.1.2. ~Akeno’s Private Training~

This was, for one of the better word, engaging. Haha. It contains Akeno’s ‘training’. I was very intrigued since Issei and Akeno sort of manhandled each other. Again, Issei found himself in a sticky situation, as does Akeno…literally. Haha. I thought a physical relationship was brewing between the two, and I approved. I consider Rias and Asia as both the alpha females of the show and probably are the front runners to becoming the one for Issei… so this was an opportunity for Akeno to get chance. Until we see Issei hugging Asia in his sleep… it was a flipping dream and nothing more. Asia certainly doesn’t mind him hugging her too much, whether it’s deliberate or not. That’s interesting to see.

3.1.3. ~Koneko, a bit more bold~

Rias puts a magic spell on Issei’s ‘drink’ to combat his perverted-ness. However, since Koneko drunk this instead, it had the opposite effect and made her ultra-perverted. You could say she was a cat on heat. Haha. Asia was noble here. I like girls like Asia, someone who is timid yet very brave when they need to be. I whole heartedly approve. I thought Rias didn’t mind Issei’s dirty minded nature though? I found this slightly perplexing but then I remembered that these specials are nothing more but juicy extras.

3.1.4. ~The story of the first Dress Break~

Out of all the specials I would say this is probably the most probing for me. To me, Rias is very much out of character. Sure, it’s entertaining to watch but to see Rias being embarrassed about being naked seems very out of character. To see her hide her modesty seems rather strange. She even slept with Issei completely naked. Why would she get embarrassed now? Perhaps it’s more about being stripped rather than being naked? Akeno and Asia were in complete character when they were stripped. Asia didn’t mind being stripped as it would assist Issei in his training and Akeno didn’t mind because…she’s Akeno.

3.1.5. ~Making Udon Noodles~

What a surprise, all the udons turned into tentacles and groped all the ladies and neglected the guys… This was funny to watch because Rias is godly strong and I bet she could easily power her way out of those tentacles. Still, if she did that, they’d be no special episode. Haha!

3.1.6. ~Asia transforms~

Asia trying to be a ‘bad’ person and be more like a devil was undoubtedly my favourite. It’s very much like Asia to try and be one with the gang and impress everyone. Issei recognises this and finds her adorable, as do I. Of course Issei is perverted but he’s not O.T.T. He’s never taken advantage out of Asia’s good nature and he likes her for who she is. He said the right thing, Asia should be who she is, Asia. She is accepted for who she is and so she shouldn’t try to act any different. He did all the right things…

Except, he was careless exposing the hicky that Asia gave him. Issei was lucky that Rias didn’t go wild on him.

  1. BONUS

We have the introduction to the Occult Club where Issei and his two cronies introduce the main ladies of the show…poor Kiba. He’s part of the main cast yet because he’s not Issei and he doesn’t have boobs he’s completely overlooked. Haha. They were in form of audio episodes. We learn some interesting facts about each character.

I must say though, I’m not really sure how I feel about overly perverted characters, especially Issei’s cronies. The first overly perverted character that I came across was Tomoki Sakurai from Heaven’s Lost Property. At first I thought this was hilarious as I found it silly, daring and unexpected. However, it appears to be a common type of character in some anime. I must say though, the more characters I see with this trait, I less amusing I find them. Depending on how they are represented in the show I tend to find these types of characters more on the creepy side as oppose to funny. Talking about the girls, watching dirty dvds and dirty magazines is one thing, all young males do that. But, the issue for me would be if they go the extra mile and, for example, ‘peek’ on the ladies if they are changing clothes. Of course, I’m not implying that perverted characters shouldn’t exist but for me a line would probably have to be drawn. =)

More bonus features include the promotional video, the commercial collection and the US trailer of High School DxD. Admittedly, I never watch dub anime as I prefer listening to anime in Japanese.^^/ They also showed trailers for anime shows like Heaven’s Lost Property: Forte and Is This a Zombie? Of the Dead. They were fun to watch. =)

We also can indulge into the textless opening and ending songs. The opening is –Trip Innocent of D- by Larval Stage Planning and the closing is STUDY x STUDY by StylipS. Both are cracking songs and they blend in well with the video. Of course the visuals are sensual and stimulating but they’re appropriate for the story. We have to face the facts…the anime is all about the boobs. Haha. The sexual parts, whether in the specials, opening sequences or in the show itself, whilst not dominant it’s the underlining theme and is used in a tasteful manner. At least, that’s what I think. =)

The opening was quite dramatic if you look past the boobs, which I can imagine must be hard. We see beautifully illustrated visuals, especially the various emotions that Rias shown, especially with her crying. It proper had my heart pounding. I interpret on the ending to emphasize Issei’s possible harem. It’s like showing Issei as some poker dealer and Rias, Akeno and co being his ‘ladies’. This may sound weird but I thought Rias and Asia cuddling up to him rather cute. Once again I feel sorry for Kiba as he didn’t get enough love…then again, he does get showered with attention from the female extras but they’re irrelevant. 😉

  1. CONCLUSION

I’ve not even touch on the anime itself but disc 2 was brilliant and had loads of features that I didn’t really know existed. The story has a deep meaning but you probably wouldn’t believe me if you watched the specials first. The specials contained mostly saucy moments and are in no way connected with the main plot…well, the Dress Break is debatable.

The only thing that I probably questioned is how the specials represented Rias. To me, she was out of character multiple times. I know I’ve been probing and questioning how Rias is used during the review but really they’re just fleeting thoughts on my part. I can easily look outside the box and just enjoy it. After all, the specials were specifically made for juicy extras.

I could re-watch the specials and the textless opening and ending countless of times and never tire of them. There’s no deep meaning to these specials at all, it’s just light-hearted fun. =)
