Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma Episode Fifteen Thoughts

Ikumi and Aldini Eyecatch

It was good to see Soma’s dad again and he kindly prepared the dishes for all the residents of the Polar Star Dormitory. It’s interesting to note that he used to be called Saiba. This is just a guess on my part but maybe his wife’s surname was Yukihira and he used that name once he married her. I heard that in Japan the guy takes on the lady’s family name when married. I really didn’t expect for him to be an alumnus of Totsuki Academy. I wonder why he didn’t graduate.

I did enjoy seeing Megumi, Ryouko and Yuki reacting to Jouichirou’s dish. They all looked really dashing in those Arabian clothes. I wonder if it’s possible to fall in love with someone through cooking. If it is possible then Jouichirou will have a group of female fans straightaway. I grinned when Soma misread the glances from the girls. If he can improve his cooking then he will get a flock of groupies in no time. Haha.

Erina’s reactions to Soma’s antics I think were hilarious. I never expected for her to be a fan of Jouichirou though. I immediately thought it was cool but weird. Surely Erina would have made a connection that Jouichirou is Soma’s dad. But, seeing as he went with the name Saiba it sort of makes sense why Erina wouldn’t make that connection.

I wonder how she will react once she learns of the father and son connection. Will she still treat Soma coldly or will she show him a little more respect?

I’m looking forward towards the impromptu Shokugeki battle between Jouichirou and Soma. However, I still think that the Dad will come out on top.

Food Wars End Card

I was very late in posting this because I’ve only just watched this. Haha. I decided that I will keep posting my thoughts on Food Wars on a weekly basis. I like the new opening and ending songs, I think they’re rather catchy.

I’m impressed with this anime season so far. I enjoy watching the new Non Non Biyori series and I’m enjoying Monster Musume a lot more than I thought I would. I re-watched episode 2 three times. =) I wasn’t planning on watching SHIMONETA but I’m definitely enjoying that as I keep on cracking up laughing whenever I watch it. =)

Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma Fourteen Episode Thoughts

Food Wars Street Fighter Parody Endcard

This was really exciting to watch. I actually think it’s my personal favourite episode of Food Wars yet. Did Soma adjust the recipe? Or, did he decide to put on a show? I’m pleased that he managed to attract a young sweet girl who got pushed out from tasting Erina’s dish. Live cooking looks like fun. I sort of did live cooking when I was in the kitchen at college, but, it was nothing of Soma’s calibre. Haha.

It was amusing when Soma was ignoring Erina to focus on his own dish. It was more to the point that he was analysing the situation. It was incredible how he quickly adapted to the situation and went incredibly fast to cook that soufflé dish thing. The battle music compliments that scene very well. It was intense and exciting to watch, especially as Soma was trying to beat the clock in 30 minutes. I do think it was a bit of a small victory on Soma’s part when he managed to take away some of Erina’s customers. It was especially amusing when he gave that thumbs up towards Erina. I don’t like it when people give a smug face but I find myself laughing every time Soma gives a smug face. Haha.

Luckily Soma managed to complete 200 servings just in time. Had he done all that in the beginning, I wonder if he could have managed more. Erina completed over 400 servings and Alice managed 380 servings. Had Alice had more ingredients than I reckon she could have matched Erina’s number.

I thought I wasn’t going to like the new girl, Alice Nakiri, until I got to know her a little better. It seems like she’s a wannabe villain but every time she tries to act cool it somehow backfires. She wanted her right hand man to explain her history with Erina but that backfired so she ended up explaining it. It was really funny to watch. I especially liked it when it showed a young Erina calling a cake disgusting, the same cake that a young Alice made for her.

Alice’s dish did look pretty amazing. I liked it when she turned that egg into like a drink. The egg sits on an egg cup made out of chocolate and you use the straw to drink the chocolateness from side. It’s like an adapted version of an Easter Egg and Egg and Soldiers.

I am pleased that Soma didn’t feel sorry for himself. If anything, he took it in his stride. He actually admitted that he was ignorant. Yet again Alice has failed to intimidate a person. Haha. It’s definitely good experience for Soma though.

The ending was misleading, but in a good way. Luckily, Soma and co are treated to dishes that are prepared and made by the alumnus of Totsuki. Good for them. All of the Polar Star Gang managed to pass too, including Zenji, remarkably. I wonder if Hinako made a special dish just for Megumi?

I wonder what the Autumn Elections are.

This has definitely been my favourite episode yet and I feel that it’s more than appropriate to make a shout out to the Eyecatch and Endcards as they are parodies of Street Fighter. Ingenious, in my opinion. I really do like Erina parodying Blanka. Haha. I think Ryouko would have suited cosplaying as Crimson Viper.

My Theory about Autism and Repetitive Movement

Autism_Awareness_Ribbon

I came up with a little theory about Autism that I wish to share.

Sometimes I get asked “why do you like Thomas?” My answer is usually “I just do.”

It’s a known fact that people with Autism have strong interests in machines or vehicles. We tend to be fascinated with vehicles like trains, cars, tractors, planes and helicopters. In my Mum’s school there are people with Autism who have been intrigued by fans, umbrella, drainage system etc. The question remains, why are we fascinated with things that move?

My personal belief is that we become hypnotised by the repetitive and steady movement of certain objects.

It’s not like being hypnotised by a magician for instance. It’s more like being mesmerised by repetitive movement. You could say it’s similar to someone being engrossed in a good film. However, instead of people with Autism being engrossed by films etc we become fixated with moving objects.

With toy trains, for example, if you put the rails in the circle that train will move around continually. That and trains, in my opinion, are majestic to look at. They are glossy and stylish.

That’s where Thomas the Tank Engine comes in.

You have an interesting vehicle, a train, which has us Autistic people engaged. However, give that train a face, a paint job and a personality that children can relate to and we are officially hypnotised with Thomas the Tank Engine.

I genuinely believed that Thomas could have been real. With cartoons, we couldn’t touch them or see them in person as they were on paper. However, with Thomas, you could actually go to the studio and watch him and physically touch him as he was a model. In that aspect, he felt real.

Not only was I fascinated and hypnotised by a train, I was fascinated and hypnotised by a train who has a human face and a human personality. To this day my enthusiasm for Thomas has never weathered and as I have mentioned many times before I owe him a lot. If it wasn’t for Thomas I’m not even sure I would be able to talk and socialise let alone type this up for a WordPress blog.

What do you think? What’s your opinion? I will be interested to hear your views.

Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma Episode Thirteen Thoughts

Satoshi and Fumio Endcard

Oh my. I hope Soma manages to pull through. Understandably I do think Soma is at a disadvantage here. He’s work at a diner for all his life and wouldn’t really know how a hotel would present their dishes. It’s not the question of him being able to cook. It’s the question of whether his dish is appropriate. So far, he has managed to serve less than 10 dishes. That new girl implied that Soma was going to fail as she knew what he was going to cook. I think Erina knew that that dish was inappropriate as well and it was on the tip of her tongue to tell him but opted not to.

Erina is pretty awesome and is quite amazing but it does seem that she was able to serve 200 dishes a little bit too quickly. That dish with the bacon and egg and muffin looks absolutely amazing. It made me hungry just looking at it. I wonder how she will react to Soma’s lack of servings. Takumi and Megumi appeared to be alarmed by this but I wonder how Erina will react? I get the feeling that she won’t be as sarcastic with Soma as she usually is. She already advised him to not serve that dish that he prepared for her in episode 2. I wouldn’t be surprised if she gave him more advice in the next episode.

It doesn’t matter how many insults and sarcastic remarks are aimed at Soma, they will never break him. Erina tried to be sarcastic and he took it as if she was suggesting a tasting contest. Haha. I do wonder who that new girl is. She tried to be intimidating but it back fired. XD She appears to be Erina’s rival. Are they related I wonder.

It looks like that Takumi and Ikumi are both going to be fine. It was amusing how they both confronted Soma. It was especially amusing when Isami revealed the recipes that the Aldini Restaurant use for their cuisine. The two of them clearly care for Soma and it’s always nice to see Soma getting more allies then enemies. He’s not a bad person he’s just ignorant in the high class society.

Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma Episode Twelve Thoughts

Megumi Yokai Endcard

I was gutted when everyone favoured Shinomiya’s dish. I really wanted to see him be cut down to size, but, his dish was too good. As expected of a top pro chef. I do understand his background a little better and I can see that it has made him the way he is today, but, I still don’t like him. However, after trying Megumi’s dish he will move forward in his own way.

It was pretty funny when all the judges were debating what yokai Megumi would be. Hinako is as funny as ever. If yokai Megumis ever get released then I would most certainly be keen to buy them.

Megumi put a lot of thought into her dish and considers who she’s preparing the dish for. She really is a sweet person. I suppose, realistically speaking, it would have been unrealistic for her to beat Shinomiya, even with Soma’s help. I’m glad she’s no longer expelled as I was somewhat nervous that we will not see her again.

It really is all thanks for Soma. I know Soma hit that wall in frustration but if it wasn’t for him then Megumi would have been expelled once and for all. Still, he didn’t feel sorry for himself and he joined Megumi and the rest of the Polar Star Gang in Rousuke’s room. Haha. Perhaps Soma needed a “loss” against a pro like Shinomiya to gain a humongous motivation to improve as a chef.

When I think about it, this Shokugeki battle is a win for everyone. Megumi gained confidence in her self-esteem and cooking strives, Shinomiya now realises how to become a top chef and Soma is going to be motivated to improve. =)

High School DxD BorN Episode Eleven Thoughts

High School DxD Born

I still don’t really understand why or how Rias is being mind-controlled or is in a confused state, I just know that she is. However, she does look pretty cool in her own Balance Breaker armour. I think that shows how deep her feelings for Issei are, by wearing his own armour. I think there’s a metaphor there somewhere that her red hair is connected with Issei’s Sacred Gear. I’m not altogether sure what it is though.

Issei was looking at the prospect of fighting Rias all wrong. He’s not fighting to beat her he’s fighting to save her. Granted, his emotions and mind are in a confused state so he probably won’t think rationally. I’m glad he didn’t hesitate to save Rias. However, I do think it would have been cooler if he said something like, “If it means that I’m the enemy of the underworld and of the devils, then it’s a price to pay to save Rias and see her smile return.”

Alas, Issei will probably never think of a quote like that as Issei was just being Issei. Haha.
Is it really possible for a devil to become a Fallen Angel? Maybe Fallen Devils exist? They probably don’t as it doesn’t sound right. Haha. I wonder what Ajuka did to Issei. Did he give him a power-up? It’s probably something like that Fafnir object that protected Asia.

It’s nice to see Kuroka again. She clearly cares about Koneko even if she has become a criminal. I was really expecting a fight to break out but in this case there wasn’t enough time for Issei to duel with Vali and Kuroka.

I hope Issei and Rias make it back in time to the real world, that is, when they stop fighting.^^/

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Episode Twelve Thoughts

Episode 12 Endcard

Ah, it’s those nasty men from the bar. They were part of the dramatic scene that happened in this episode. I knew Hermes would be involved but I didn’t think those guys in particular would be involved. I was worried that something bad was going to happen to Hestia, and it sort of did. But, luckily, she was untied from that tree thanks to Lili. Nothing bad was really going to happen to her, she’s a Goddess after all.

Still, I knew Hermes was shady ever since he made his introduction. I was in two minds on whether he was in cahoots with Freya or was competing against her. It seems as though he wants to toughen Bell up indirectly. In that regard he’s similar to Freya. Luckily, Bell managed to grasp that guy’s fighting style and counter-attacked, even if he was invisible. They stopped as soon as Hestia used her divine power. Good for her. However, I think by using her power it invoked that very same Monster Rex that Aiz beat from many episodes ago.

Actually, is that right? In the books Aiz beat that same Monster Rex on Level 30+. I might have misunderstood something. But whatever the case we’re in for a showdown in the last episode.

I cringed at the bath scene. I knew Hermes was going to cause Bell trouble but as soon as he climbed that tree I knew immediately that was going to be where the girls had their bath. I had it on paused for several minutes to gear myself up to watch it. It was humorous before when Hestia was asking Bell about whether he disliked ‘sweaty girls’ and Aiz was sniffing her top in the background. Haha.

I especially cringed when Bell fell in the water. I was prepared for Bell to get a humongous battering. However, the complete opposite happened. They all literally welcomed him with open arms. In a way, it’s lucky for him as he wouldn’t need to peek but actually join them in the future. Haha.

I was sad to learn about Ryu’s past. I never knew that it was possible for Familiar families to hate one another. Now, both Familiar members are wiped out with the exception of Ryu. She looked cool when she dealt with those nasty men in one blow. I wonder which Familiar Ryu belonged to. It started to make sense when she said that she is blacklisted. In the previous episode she told Bell to keep her voice down and in this episode she bathed alone. She needs to keep her identity a secret in the dungeon. Otherwise she will get in trouble with the guild.

For next week’s episode. I reckon everyone, apart from the Gods, are going to fight together against that Monster Rex but the stars will be Bell, Ryu, Mikoto and Welf. I think one of two things will happen… Either Loki Familiar come back down and back Bell up, or, Freya sends recruitments so Bell doesn’t die. She might be evil but she loves Bell to the point of obsession and I wouldn’t be surprised if she gets involved somehow.

THANKS FOR READING

Lili Endcard

I’m sad that next week is the final episode. Even worse, it’s actually on my birthday. I usually put everything to one side to celebrate it with my family. However, next week, I may just have to postpone watching the final episode for a little while. That will be ok but the anticipation just may get the better of me so I won’t plan to watch this next week, I’ll just see how I feel when the time comes. =)

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Episode Eleven Thoughts

Bell and Hestia Endcard

I was a little nervous as I really didn’t know what was going to happen. Bell and his party looked like they were in pretty bad shape. Still, I’m glad they managed to reach the eighteenth floor and even managed to get past that Goliath. I wonder how that Goliath was able to respawn so quickly. Perhaps a lot of time passed between the last episode and this one? Or maybe it respawned through special circumstances. Hopefully, Freya is not involved and that is just a coincidence.

I really like the look of the eighteenth floor, the Labyrinth Utopia. The tree and the crystal ceilings are beautiful. I was just as surprised as Bell to learn that this floor also has a town. It makes sense as this designated area is actually a safe point. It’s pretty handy.

It seems that the Loki Familiar have finished their expedition. I’m going to assume that they managed to complete the 59th floor. Many congratulations to them. I bet it’s going to be big news when they go back to the surface as it is a big deal. I’m glad that Bell got to see Aiz again. I must say that I didn’t think that the Loki Familiar would appear again so quickly. I’m glad they did as it meant that we get to see Aiz again.

I knew Mikoto would be the one that would do the Dogeza pose. I think Bell forgave Mikoto and her party as he didn’t seem as angry or as unforgiving as Lili and Welf. I did expect that though. I think something is up with that Mikoto girl and I think Bell is sensing that something is up with her. I just think she looks sad all the time, then again, it could be just the way that she’s been drawn. Haha.

Bell and Hestia’s reunion was touching and almost perfect- until Lili dragged Hestia off of Bell. Haha. I sort of feel bad as I thought it was funny with the way that Hestia was rolling down that mountain. XD It was also funny when she interrupted Bell’s and Aiz’s moment when Aiz invited him out to town. Technically, Hestia is wrong here. Bell didn’t invite Aiz out, Aiz invited Bell out. So, Hestia could still be the first one for Bell to ask out to town. Well, Hestia was Bell’s first ever date, depending on how you look at it. Lili was there too, albeit, we only hear her rather than see her.

Does Aiz not know what a date is? I can’t really decide if she was annoyed at those Amazon twins for making a fuss over Bell or if she was a little jealous. She is a very pure lady so she wouldn’t flirt with Bell in the way they did as she shows affection through less physical means. I know she will willingly give Bell lap pillows but I don’t think that counts as flirting.

Hestia is right to be suspicious of Hermes as I am as well. Who told Hermes to take a look at Bell? Oh dear, don’t tell me he’s in cahoots with Freya. In the previous episode I had a theory that Hermes and Freya could be at war with each other and both would want to take Bell away from Hestia. But what if they were actually working together?

They’re two episodes left and the season needs to finish strongly with a dramatic twist. What if a bunch of Minotaurs venture down to the eighteenth floor whilst the Loki Familiar battle Goliath? It has already been shown that the monsters can go onto different floors with a push in the right direction, mostly from Freya. Something is going to happen I reckon and I wouldn’t be surprised if Hermes spearheads that operation against Bell and co.

That and it looks like Welf gets a new weapon from Hephaistos. He doesn’t look happy about it. If that is a new weapon and not a blacksmith tool then he will need to show what he can do in the dramatic ending battle. And I really would want to see more of Ryu in action. It was only brief but she certainly knows how to take the monsters down. =)

One final note, Argonaut is a good name for Bell.

Thanks for Reading. =)

Triage X Episode Ten Thoughts

Triage X anime

Well, that’s it for Triage X.

Admittedly I was expecting more of a conclusion to the current story/plot as it was the final episode. It was a fun episode to watch but I do feel slightly underwhelmed as I feel that there are still a lot of situations that haven’t been resolved. Arashi said it right at the end, when he said that nothing has been resolved. Is this a hint perhaps that Xebec are going to produce a second season in the future?

I wonder why this show had ten episodes. Producing half a season is one thing, but they didn’t even do twelve episodes, they did ten. The manga have sold more than ten books in Japan. I haven’t read the manga but I do imagine that with the amount of volume books that they released I reckon that at least 20 episodes could have been produced. I sort of get the impression by the flow of the episodes that a lot of materials from the manga have not been animated. I could be wrong but that’s what my instincts are telling me.

I’ll talk more about the show itself in my overall review, but for now, I’ll just focus on the episode itself.

I’m pleased to know that Suzue is not in danger. I wonder when she will recover. It was quite humorous when Hinako and co were talking about girls getting abducted. It’s as if they thought of them as horror stories. It’s interesting to see Hinako talking about the possibility of alien abducting beautiful women to create a harem. Of course it’s all fantasy within a fantasy but I do wonder how she would feel if Arashi decided to have his own harem. Would she “share” him willingly? For now I think that’s out of the equation as I don’t think Arashi is interested in romance, let alone a harem.

Speaking of romance, it was rather amusing to see Hitsugi banter with Mikoto about going after Arashi. Mikoto was very slow to understand what Hitsugi was talking about. I’m not sure if I should feel daft or not but I think I’m beginning to understand more things. It seems like Mikoto and Hitsugi both had the D99 drug in them as well as Arashi. Up until now I thought Arashi was the only one who had the D99 drug to survive death.

I would have liked to see what happened to Kyoji and Goryu afterwards. I really thought that they were going to be on the receiving end of those mind broken ladies. It appears that they’re running all over town and becoming urban legends. Plus, there’s that sudden situation with Miki and Inunaki. I’m a bit gutted for Miki as I would have liked to see more of her.

I’m glad I got to see Hinako. It was cute when that top part of her hair was swaying in jubilation at the thought of going to the cinema with Arashi.

I really liked that little skit at the end when Arashi chased down that dealer. The first thing I would have done to slow the man down was shoot the tires in his car. However, Arashi shot that gas thing which somehow managed to slow the car down. I don’t really understand the mechanisms of cars but I do know that Arashi managed to slow the car down through accurate shooting. Still, he looked really lonely when he was walking on that express runway. He must have been hot as well in that bike suit.

There was that part during the credits where, if I were to describe it, looks like a James Bond moment where a circle would follow him until he “shot” the camera. Haha. It looked like that. XD It looks like someone might be trying to shoot Arashi from a distance. I could be just reading into it but maybe that’s an indication of the next series, that is, if there is going to be another season of Triage X.

All in all I enjoyed watching this episode even if there are still things left to be resolved.

Thanks for Reading. =)

Why I support Charlton Athletic

Charlton Athletic

I like to propose a toast with my glass of J2O to my team, Charlton Athletic Football Club, who were founded 110 years ago on this very day.

When it comes to answering questions you would think that my most asked question would revolve around my autism and how I cope, etc, etc. However, my most asked question, since I was young has actually been, “why do you support Charlton?”

People are often baffled by the fact that I support Charlton, as I live in the North of England and Charlton is a London based club.

As it’s one of my most asked questions I will take this opportunity to explain why I support them. =)

*

I started off as a Manchester United supporter. My reason for supporting Man Utd is rather silly but true. Back then, my Dad had big curly hair, the exact replica of Bryan May. I thought wild bushy hair was masculine and cool. At that time I came across a player called Karel Poborsky, he’s a Czech Republican international who played for Manchester United. It was at that moment that I became a Man Utd supporter… all because of Karel Poborsky and his hair. XD

Inevitably, I stopped supporting the Red Devils as soon as Poborsky left them. Haha.

For a good while I never had an interest in any particular club but one name did stand out, “Charlton Athletic.” I first learned that name in my brother’s Subbuteo set. For some reason, I was really taken by that name. I remember seeing them on the Gillette Soccer Saturday updates when they lost to Ipswich and I was surprisingly disappointed. I didn’t know how but I memorised the badge, the name, and the kit colour.

The Play-Offs Semi-Finals were on and Charlton managed to win their match and progressed to the Play-Offs Final. I found myself beaming that they won their match, but it never really registered why. All of my strange feelings and affection towards Charlton came to fruition when they played against Sunderland in the Play-Offs Final 1998.

During that match I found myself cheering for Charlton all the way. I would cry and run upstairs to my room every time Sunderland scored and would run back down if Charlton equalised. I cheered for Charlton much louder than I ever did for Man Utd. They were genuine and honest cheers too. I cheered loudest when Sasa Ilic saved that Penalty from that Penalty Shoot-out.

It was at that moment that I realised that I was a Charlton supporter.

*

I suppose I haven’t really answered my own question. Why do I support Charlton? I’m not sure why, I just do. However, when I had my epiphany and discovered the Charlton fan in myself I learned that my Mum supported Charlton, my Uncle supported Charlton and my Granddad supported Charlton. So, if I were to give an answer I would say that it’s in the family blood. =)

One of the best moments of my life did involve Charlton Athletic as I was actually their mascot in one of their away games. Their company as a whole is friendly and I can vouch for their greatness as I have been involved with their players and staff personally, if only for a brief spell. I was slightly gutted that I never got to meet Alan Curbishley and Clive Mendonca, but I was still pleased that I got to meet all the players and staff like Chrissy Powell, Keith Peacock and Mark Kinsella.

Being a Charlton mascot was definitely a supreme moment and it’s a moment that will never go away. =D

THANKS FOR READING

Super Clive Mendonca Day

There’s no doubt in my mind that I will still get asked this question time and time again, but I don’t mind as the answer is daft but humorous. =)
